Dear Friends,
Almost a month past the special election, this is obviously not the email I wanted to send. We were counting on the first Ranked Choice Voting election to go into a second round, where I would have handily secured victory. However, that was not meant to be.
Instead of a grim and sad email, I want to say, more than anything - thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for your time, your donations, and most of all, thank you for believing in me and my vision.
Although we didn’t win, this is far from a loss. We showed the City that South Asians ARE viable candidates for office. We got people talking about fixing our schools, about improving our healthcare infrastructure, and keeping our streets safe.
As the old song goes, “walk on with hope in your heart, and you’ll never walk alone” - I will never lose hope that we can change this city to reflect it’s possibilities.
As we continue on our journey in life, know that you’ll never walk alone.
Dilip
